Summary
1632. Tokugawa Iemitsu has become shogun following the death of his father, but many of the country's daimyo don't support him and instead favor his younger brother, Tadanaga.
Amid this unrest, Yagyu Munenori, Iemitsu's most trusted advisor and head of the Yagyu Shinkage-ryu sword style, learns that his youngest son, Samon, has been in an intimate relationship with Iemitsu - a fact that has the potential to threaten both the shogun's position and the prosperity of the Yagyu clan.
When sending Samon away to the old family home in Iga, two weeks' travel from Edo, fails to resolve the issue due to Iemitsu's insistence to return his lover to the city, Munenori dispatches Samon's eldest brother, Jubei, to put an end to things once and for all.
