AO3 is a permanent, panfandom archive for fanworks, built by fans, for fans. We want AO3 to be a place where all fannish works are recognized as legal and transformative, and where every fan of any media feels welcome, no matter who they are or how they use AO3. If you enjoy creating or engaging with fanworks, AO3 is for you.

We take our commitment to maximum inclusiveness of fanwork content seriously. Our content policies are designed to give creators as much creative freedom as possible, while still allowing us to maintain our focus as a non-commercial fanwork archive. We strive to protect your rights to privacy and free expression, as outlined in our Terms of Service.

We value making fannish activities and creations as accessible as possible to all those who wish to participate. We recognize that supporting diversity and inclusion is an ongoing responsibility, and we remain dedicated to developing AO3 and its policies in a way that reflects our commitment. As we update AO3, we will continue to prioritize features that improve the site's inclusivity and accessibility for everyone.

We dedicate our time to support AO3, but we can't do this work alone. All of us – donors, users, and volunteers – work together to foster a culture of inclusiveness on AO3 and the rest of the Organization for Transformative Works' projects.
