Summary
My attempt at describing the thoughts of Lo’ak as he walks down that beach in that one scene.
It’s his fault, isn’t it? That Neteyam is dead, that his family is suffering. There’s one way to put an end to it- and that’s to put an end to him.
But he can’t even do this one thing right.
Will he learn to recover, or will he drown in the tide of his emotions?

Summary
Kiri and Tsireya never found Lo'ak on that shore, so he has to come to terms with his attempt on his own.
However, after a horrible nightmare, Jake offers to soothe Lo'ak with tsaheylu, something he hasn't done in years. Lo'ak accepts, not thinking about what else his dad might find amongst his swirling, poisoned thoughts.
Or, Lo'ak's struggles with the weight of his grief vs Jake's C- parenting that he might be able to upgrade to a B+ when he realizes how much pain his son is in.

Summary
"The people say that when you touch steel, it's poison seeps into your heart."
Lo'ak's heart, despite being untouched by such steel in the long-run, still felt quite poisoned to him.
Luckily for him, however, his friends and family are willing to ease this mental bane and nurse him back to health.

Summary
Jake hauled Neteyam up, one arm under his shoulders, one hand slapping hard over the bullet wound. Neteyam gasped, clawing weakly at his vest.
“Dad,” he choked. “Lo’ak—Lo’ak’s still on the ship—”
Jake’s heart had faltered. A violent, sickening misfire. The way of water has no beginning and no end. The sea gives and the sea takes.
(Neteyam is shot and hanging on by a thread. Lo’ak is taken by the RDA. And Jake is losing his mind - but not his boys. Not ever.)

Summary
“Lo’ak slow down.”
Neteyam’s voice comes from behind him, already tired.“I am slow,” Lo’ak lies, darting between roots anyway. He laughs when his foot catches and he nearly eats dirt.
Neteyam grabs his arm before he can fall. Reflexive. Sure.
“Eywa,” Neteyam mutters. “You’re gonna break your neck one day.”
Lo’ak beams up at him. “You always catch me.”

Summary
He figures out that the loop has a set time. It always begins with Lo’ak lying on his mat in the family marui the morning of the battle, and it always ends the next day as he connects to the Spirit Tree at Neteyam’s funeral.
Nothing changes, and Neteyam dies. And dies, and dies, and dies.
Is this his punishment? Is this Lo’ak’s penitence for causing his brother's death, for killing Neteyam like his dad always said he would?
“Eywa,” he begs, “what is happening to me?”
Silence answers him.or,
Neteyam can't stop dying, and Lo'ak can't stop waking up that morning to save him.

Summary
...And he does not know if it was Payakan’s banishment— a part of him, torn away– that tips the scale in his heart or if it was his father's words that broke him but either way he is certain
of his decision to die and sink into it again. To return his borrowed energy.Lo’ak will pull the trigger and shoot himself through the head and by the time the hour has passed, the water lapping at his knees now will have claimed him and he will be free of this.
(Or: Lo'ak doesn't throw away the gun that night, but manages to survive his shot against all odds. Everyone comes to know what he did. How will his parents react to it? How will Lo'ak feel, having failed his attempt? And is there a way to heal after such an occurrence- not just his body, but his mind, soul and relationship with his father?
I have a ton of painful feelings and hurt / comfort planned. I've loved all the fics on this so far... and here it is my way!)

Summary
Neteyam wouldn't have been shot if he hadn't asked for them to go back for Spider.
They could've regrouped with their father, and discussed a proper plan to retrieve Spider. Like warriors would do.
Why couldn't he be more like his brother?
Why couldn't he be more like his father?
Shakily, he whispered:
"It was my fault."
"It wasn't."
Loak snapped up and sat straighter.
Turning around, he found someone he had least expected to find somewhere so high up.
or two boys grieving over their loss.

Summary
When he died for the first time, Lo'ak te Suli Tsyeyk'itan had welcomed Eywa's embrace and the chance to join his brother once more. Eywa liked granting wishes, though usually not in the way her children would have expected. Eywa also liked matchmaking, and she was too great and too grand to stay bored for long.
Or, a Reincarnation AU no one asked for. A Soulmate AU no one asked for. A Crack Relationship no one asked for.
“I should have just locked you up inside the tent like an animal.”
“Maybe. But then again, that would be admitting to a blatant weakness, wouldn’t it? If there’s even a tiny voice of objection in your clan, they will know immediately where to poke.”
“… You really don’t seem like a child.”
“That’s my consideration for your sensibilities. Think about how you would feel if I made crude jokes, ate my boogers, and practiced my boob dances in front of your clansmen.”
“… You have a boob dance?”
“You Mangkwans live such boring lives.”Series

Summary
Fresh from completing his iknimaya, Lo'ak spends a night sleeping beside Tsireya, tucked into a quiet place that feels like it belongs only to them. Just warmth, shared breath. He wakes with her weight against his chest and the unsettling sense that the day is already out of order.
"You've been acting strange all morning, did you sleep badly?"
Sleep. His throat tightens. He remembers waking up to blood on his lips and the terrible certainty that something was wrong. No. That's not right. Or it is right, but it also already happened, hasn't it? Then it's happening again.
Everyone tells him there's no rush. He just has to learn why waiting matters.
OR
Lo'ak follows his day, gets a nosebleed, and time returns him to when Tsireya's resting on his chest. Except he can feel himself dying more each loop.
